Amanda Holdan’s family moved to Naperville, Illinois when she was five years old… which is when she began watching television. Her daily repertoire consisted of the normal kid stuff like Sesame Street, The Electric Company, and The Monkees. But she also watched yoga and began trying to do the postures along with the lady on TV.
After Amanda got turned on to “TV yoga”, her parents decided that she was watching too much television, and signed her up for swim team instead. Thus, her yoga existence came to a halt until she rediscovered Bikram Yoga twenty years later in Raleigh, North Carolina. Bikram was her entrée into the serenity and heart of the practice, and taught her the alignment of those poses she had tried to do as a little girl.
Since then, Amanda has been practicing Bikram, Vinyasa, Anusara, and Forrest Yoga. She has a regular home practice and also studies with teachers including Ana Forrest, Stephanie Snyder, Rusty Wells and Janet Stone. Her yoga practice has been a sweet journey of change physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually.
Amanda teaches Forrest-inspired classes, which address our daily stresses and challenges, both physical and emotional. Forrest Yoga uses intense pose sequences—compassionately taught—to develop skills in awakening each of the senses. It teaches you to bring aliveness—using breath— into every cell of your body, igniting your passion for living.
Amanda does not currently own a TV.
